Our styling guide makes it easy to learn all the different customization options and reference specific specs and asset options.

 

Recommendations

HARDWARE & OPERATING SYSTEM

  • Greenroom performs best on devices that are up to date with the latest operating system update.
  • It is also recommended to use Greenroom on more recent laptop models (both PC and Mac).
  • Always confirm that presenters joining have tested their hardware and network connection with Greenroom to prevent showtime technical difficulties.
    • VPNs, firewalls, and local computer settings can prevent users from effectively using the software.

OPTIMAL BROWSERS

  • Greenroom is only supported on two web browsers, Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
    • Make sure you're using the most up-to-date version of Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, to help ensure the best performance of Greenroom. 
    • Check your Chrome or Edge browser settings, to make sure you're allowing access to greenroom.brandlive.com. 

INTERNET REQUIREMENTS

  • Greenroom performs best at higher-quality internet connections than standard video conferencing solutions like Google Meet or Zoom.
    • Upload Speed: At minimum 10Mbps for Producers and 5Mbps for Presenters.
    • Download Speed: 20Mbps
    • To determine internet speed, use a speed test site such as Speedtest.net.

CAMERA SETTINGS

  • The Greenroom supports the use of external cameras and microphones.
    • To choose which inputs you'd like to use, look in the top right corner of the screen: Avatar > Video Settings > find the microphone and camera settings. 
    • Various drop-down menus allow you to select a particular camera, microphone, as well as speaker output.

Asset Recommendations

Dimensions specs:
  • Profile:
    • Avatar image: 1:1 ratio (scaling available)
    • Background Image: exact 16:9 aspect ratio (852x480, 1280x720, 1920x1080) with subject centered
  • Channel Image: 1:1 ratio (scaling available)
  • Media Layouts:
    • 2A, 3A, 4A, 4G; exact 16:9 aspect ratio (852x480, 1280x720, 1920x1080)
    • 2B, 3B, 4B: exact 4:3 aspect ratio (640x480, 800x600, 960x720, 1024x768, 1280x960, 1400x1050, 1440x1080)

Pro Tip: If assets are just shy of the recommended ratio, the fit/fill option is an easy solution for sizing adjustments.

  • Media tab > Find the asset you wish to adjust and select the ellipsis (3 dots icon) to the right > select "edit" > use the drop-down on the bottom left to move between the fit & fill options.

Showbuilder

Showbuilder mode provides a dedicated space for collaborative pre-show planning and shot building.

SHOWBUILDER BUTTON

You can find the Showbuilder by navigating to the "Showbuilder" dropdown button located in the top right corner of the Greenroom.

FEEDS TAB

The feeds tab reflects all the Presenters currently within the Greenroom. While in Showbuilder mode, the Producer has access to ALL invited Presenters, whether they have created a Greenroom account or not. This allows you to prep your shots ahead of time, so that day of the show your Presenters are already in the right spots.

ADDING SHOTS

  1. Within the Showboard, you can simply add a new shot by hovering your mouse between shots. The option to add a new shot will appear.
  2. By clicking the "+" button, you will be presented with shot layout options. Once you have selected the shot layout of choice, click "Apply layout."
  3. Easily drag and drop media and or Presenter feeds directly into the shot.

Producers can add a shot layout to their Showboard, picking from a variety of options available.

ADDING TITLES (LOWER THIRDS):

Click the Design tab > Titles to view and select from one of seven title formats.

Once the desired title settings are selected, scroll down to the bottom to click apply/save changes.

Once saved, you can go back to the feeds tab to select the live video shot you want and activate the titles with the Titles toggle right below the canvas.

If text is not entered into a specific field, the section will disappear.

The "Background" area in the design tab is auto-filled with a selection of default items.

A background image shows behind a live stream (example on page 10).

Wallpaper fill shows when you press the "clear" button on Showboard. 

Specifications:

  • PNG, JPG, or JPEG
  • Exact 16:9 aspect ratio dimension or dimension of 1920x1080
  • Note: All images can be scaled to stretch within the tool.

Requirements when uploading MP3 or MOV files into the Greenroom Media Tab

  • Encoding type: H.264
  • File Size Limit: 2GB max
  • Supported Resolutions: Up to 1080p
  • Frame Rate: 30fps
  • Data Rate: Up to 4,000Kbps
  • Refrain from using special characters in the name of the video file

Overlays

ENABLE AUDIO OR LOOP VIDEO OVERLAYS

For video overlay files, users have the option to turn the audio on/off or select the option to loop the video overlay asset.

  1. Drag and drop your overlay file onto the canvas and to the desired location and sizing.
  2. Right-click on the video overlay file and a setting options dropdown will appear.
  3. By selecting the "Audio" box, you will enable the audio for the file. Deselect to disable audio.
  4. To loop your video overlay, check the "Loop" box and designate a duration for the shot.

MAXIMIZE FIT

Overlays can be utilized for full-screen takeovers. Whether to inform the audience that the show is about to start or to promote a sponsor, adjusting the overlay to fit is easy!

  1. Right-click on the overlay of choice
  2. Select "Maximize" from the dropdown menu

ANIMATION

 

 

Set your graphic or video overlay files to animate automatically or via Produce control. With the option to manually display and animate graphics on the fly, Greenroom makes it easy to build animations that will increase your engagement and wow factor during the live broadcast.

 

 

 

 

 

1. Click on the overlay within the canvas you wish to animate. You will notice the animation settings within the design tab will appear to the right.

2. Use the control settings to customize:

  • Build in: When the shot starts, manually, or after a delay
  • Effect: None, dissolve or move in
  • Duration: 250 ms, 500 ms, 1 sec, 5 sec, or 10 sec
  • Show For: From 0.5s up to 5 mins
  • Build out: Manual or after a delay

LAYERING

Incorporate multiple overlays onto your canvas. Right-click on the chosen overlay to adjust layers, moving assets forward or backward.

The maximum amount of overlays you can include per shot is eight.

 

GLOBAL OVERLAY

Add overlays to current and future shots with the global overlay feature. This feature is best used for branded lower thirds or special messaging throughout a show. Removing global overlays is just as easy with the option to remove from a single shot or the entire show. Right-click on the desired overlay within the canvas to add/remove global overlays.
