Create a beautiful, branded site with ease using our Site Build Guide.

The Site Build Guide is designed as an additional support and resource as you dive into the Brandlive Platform. It can be used as a visual aid to have along side you when initially learning how to use the product, or a reference when revisiting this training content later. This guide can even act as an outline when you are tasked to train the rest of your team. The intentional structure follows our internal enablement team's training outline and has all of the information you may need in one place. We've included definitions as well as links to other relevant 'Help Center' articles to dive deeper where you need to.

Key Terminology

  • Channel - where all of projects and content live
  • Project - the occurrence itself, the reason for the virtual broadcast and need for a virtual solution.
  • Landing Page (optional) -the “front door” of the project. Anyone with a URL can get more details and register for access to a project.
  • Registration Page (optional) -  where attendees fill out form fields and submit their contact information for access to the project.
  • Home Page (optional) - This serves as the main hub of your project and where attendees can access all sessions. If you have a single session project, you may choose to opt out of having a home page.
  • Sessions/Session Pages - Individual session pages live inside your project, and are where viewers go to watch video content and engage with features such as poll, chat, etc. Sessions can be live-broadcast, on-demand (pre-recorded), or breakout sessions. Your project can contain as many sessions as you need to support your project.

Translations

Resources

Select from two easy ways to edit Translations. Admins and Site builders can simply toggle between languages and then click in to text fields to edit content or download all translations to edit in an offline workflow.

To edit translations in platform, use the 'Languages' menu at the top of each page to toggle between them.

In some languages, the translations for native features such as 'Chat' may not translate perfectly. If this is the case, we recommend:

  • For sites with native features with a translation error totaling less than 3, please reach out to your Brandlive contact to submit a custom development request. Please note, we are only able to accommodate a small number of changes to features of the site with this method.
  • For sites with more than 3 native feature translation errors, please use the Offline Translation editing method detailed below.

Non-Inline / Bulk Editing in Platform -Some areas of the platform are not available to in-line edit. Another case would be if you have a significant amount of languages you need to edit or send to a translation agency.

1. Open your project in Brandlive's Sitebuilder. Then, select the 'Translations' button under the 'Languages' menu at the top of the page.

2. A new modal will appear. Click 'Download Translations' to download a .zip folder containing an Excel file for each language.

3. Select the language file you wish to edit and open it in Excel or in Google Sheets. Your document will have three columns and several tabs.

4. Edit your translations by typing into Column 3 of each tab in the sheet. Text added to Column 3 is what will appear on your site for the selected language.

5. In the Admin Console, select your default language and upload your new translation file.

  • Then, select the language you are uploading and click 'Upload'
  • A second menu will appear to let you know the upload has finished processing. If there are any errors detected, the platform will inform you of the errors.

  • You can then choose to amend and re-upload your file or click 'Apply Translations.'

  • Once you've applied the translations, they will appear on your site for the select language. In this example, the Chat box is now labeled 'NEW Chat Label'

Note: You may need to refresh the page for the changes to appear.

Publish your page for the changes to apply to your final site.

You can re-upload a new version of your translations document at anytime and continue to edit in-line as well.

Non-English Default Language Project

By default, the Brandlive Platform creates projects using English as the base language, with the ability to add pages for other languages and configure the translation settings accordingly.

However, if your project does not require an English language page at all, you can adjust the project's language settings at the project creation level. See linked article to learn more.
